Kenneth Copeland - Receive Anything You Need by Faith
We are talking about the basic fundamentals of faith. Let's go back over there to Mark 5. A certain woman which had an issue of blood for 12 years had suffered many things of many physicians, had spent all that she had and was nothing better, but rather grew worse. When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind and touched his garment, for she said, "If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole". Not healed, whole. Money, her wealth, all she lost being a shut-in for 12 years. Everything made whole. Do you remember the 10 lepers? They cried out, "Jesus, Jesus, have mercy on us". "Go show yourself to the priest". They just took off. One of them came back.
Now, listen, I want you to hear Jesus' faith first. You remember what he asked him? "Were not the other nine healed"? To him, there is no way they weren't healed unless they decided not to go, but they went. Well now, who knows what was wrong with him? He could have had fingers missing, ears missing, but he came back and praised God. And Jesus said, "Now you're whole". Oh, he got his fingers and toes and everything. Glory to God. Thank You, Jesus. He got made whole. She was made whole. And then he said something here. Now I want you to notice this when all of this came about. Now she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind and touched his garment. For she said, "If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole," and straightway the fountain of her blood dried up. And she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. Jesus immediately knowing in himself...
Now the King James says virtue, but it's just simply dunamis, the Greek word power. We get our word dynamite from it. dunamis, power. Knowing in himself that power had gone out of him. We know it was the anointing. He said in Luke 4 the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to preach. So we know it was the anointing and it was that power. But her faith pulled it out of him. Her faith made a demand on it. And that power responded to what she said and did. It responded, the way I see it and read it, that power responded to what she said. Now I believe it's Matthew's account said she kept saying, she just kept saying, she just kept saying it. She just kept saying it.
Well, every time you say something like that, based on what you heard from Jesus, your faith just keeps getting stronger and stronger, that I told you that about in the book of Exodus. I had been meditating on that and praising God for that and thinking about that for quite some time. But faith happened. Faith kicked in and I stopped the car and shouted, "I'll never be sick another day in my life again here after forever". Thank God. And once that's established, it's established. Only you can unhook it. So don't, but just keep meditating on it. Just keep saying it and saying it in joy and just keep saying it. Glory to God, that's mine. That belongs to me. Hallelujah. If it belongs to anybody, it belongs to me. He's my God and he said it in his Word. He made a covenant and I'm in that covenant.
Glory be to Jesus, and I'll never be sick again hereafter forever. No, he's taken sickness from the midst of me. He's taken it. How do I know? Because Jesus bore it. He's taken it from me and I'm not having it back. And then that reminds me of I Peter 5. Let's turn over there and look at that. We'll come back to the woman. Let's put a marker there. We'll check on her later.
Go to I Peter chapter 5. And don't start there. Read the whole book. I Peter 5, the elders which are among you, I exhort, who am also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed. Feed the flock of God, which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly, not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind, neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock. And when the chief shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away. Likewise, you younger submit yourself to the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another and be clothed with humility. Let's see what the humility is. For God resists the proud, gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time casting all of your care over on him. Casting all of your care over on him.
I heard Brother Hagin teach on that. Well, I went to Beaumont, Texas, and I mentioned something about that earlier, and I heard the Lord say, "This is going to be the best meeting financially you've ever had". Glory to God. Well, I got there on the appointed time. And Dad Sutton said, "Brother Kenneth, I couldn't guarantee you $50 if you stayed a month". I said, "Did I ask you"? He said, "No, but we got the flu going on". I said, "Well, you know what to do about that? Get your oil bottle. Let's go to work". Well we did. And all of them got healed but one, and this guy said, "I'm not going to believe something I can't see or feel. I'm sick and I'm going to stay sick". And he liked to died, but he was the only one. All the rest of them got the old clammy feet out on the floor and all the rest of them are healed.
But here's what I wanted to tell you. That's good, but this is going to be the best financial meeting yet. It's three weeks long. First day, the pastor, his wife and two women. So I just preached like everybody's there. And I was staying there in the pastor's home. I got back there in that bedroom and I said, "Lord, what am I going to do? I could run a full page ad in the paper. Nobody knows who I am. And besides that I don't have any money to start with. What am I going to do"? And I just started praying and I prayed and I heard Brother Hagin's voice. That's my care and I'm going to cast it over on God. He's my caretaker, by faith.
So I went to that scripture and I said, "Lord, this meeting is my care, but I'm casting the care over on you. I'm not going to worry about it. I'm not going fast over it. I'm going to go ahead and just preach. You sent me here to preach. You didn't send me here to count the people. And I'm just going to preach and teach faith". I tell you, I got up from there and I just jumping up and down on the inside. I could hardly wait to get over there and preach again. And so the night service came along and I got out there. I took my text and I unloaded, glory to God, we had six people that night because it's night service. And just preached up and down the front end of that church and just walked around and preached and some well-meaning fella said, "Copeland I'm sorry to see you come to this town". He said, "The good ones have been here and couldn't have a meeting. I know you can't". I said, "What are you talking about? We're having a landslide". He said, "That poor dumb boy". He said, "He don't know the difference between a landslide and a flop".
You think I didn't? That night we had one person healed and one person saved and one filled with the Holy Ghost. That's a landslide when you ain't got but six. And it just started building and it started building and the Baptists heard about it, and here they came. They filled that place up. It made some of those Pentecostal women so mad that Baptist in their paint come in there. And there was a man that finally wound up on our board of directors, one of the sweetest guys, and he is strong in the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship. And the guy up there was leading the singing. He sang the same tired, old songs all the time.
And so Jack just stood up. He's a Baptist fella, Holy Ghost baptized Southern Baptist. And he likes those choruses that everybody was singing at the fellowship. He just stood up right in the middle of a song. He said, "Excuse me, could we just sing something, nice choruses."? That song leader just threw the song book up and just left. And I think everybody was so glad. He just threw it up and left. Oh, he didn't like that. It was a very interesting three weeks to say the least. By the end of the first week, packed out. Now it wasn't a great big church, but it was full. And then people were on the outside. We raised the windows and people were on the outside where they could hear. And by the end of that third week, oh, I'm telling you, that's when the miracles started. And it absolutely was amazing.
Now let me tell you about the offering. Dad Sutton, he'd have the offering. He didn't even count it. He'd just stuffed it in a paper sack. He didn't count it. Change, money, checks, I don't care what it was. He just put it all in this one paper sack, then just kept going a little bigger sack and a little bigger sack. And he'd just stuff it in my pocket. And then when the whole thing was over with, nobody counted it. He just gave me a whole sack full. Well, I think he had counted the checks and things and made record of it, but he just put in a sack and gave it to me, and all the change, pennies, dimes, quarters, everything, all this in this sack. I didn't have any idea how much was in there. Well, I went home and it's Gloria's birthday.
So I went home and I got it all out. That offering was $900, plus all that change. Just a big pile of change. So the $900 went, of course, into ministry. I gave Gloria all that change. She didn't even let me come in. I didn't anymore set my suitcase down. She said, "Come on". So she grabbed that sack full of money. She already had it picked out and we went right straight to the store. She went right straight to a bright red purse and a bright red pair of shoes. And she brought them to the counter and just set that paper sack full of change down on that counter. And they started counting, and they counted and they counted and it paid for the purse and the shoes and we had 55 cents left.
And that lady said that, she smiled. She was laughing at Gloria getting those red shoes. She smiled. She said, "Well, I'll tell you one thing. I just about broke you". She said, "No, you didn't. There's more where that came from". The Lord said it would be the best meeting financially we ever did, and we believed that. We believed it. And then after that, he said, "Brother Kenneth, I want you to come back every three months for a weekend". We just have us a three day meeting every three months. And it just kept growing and growing. That church began to grow. It was amazing. And they had better music. Oh, it was a good time. So now look what she did now.
Let's go back over there where she is. She said it. That was first. Now let me go back over what the Lord said to Brother Hagin. The Lord talked to him about other thing. He said, "The woman with the issue of blood, in my sermon I preach about her, I'm missing something on it. What is it"? He said, "I'll tell you. Go get your pencil and piece of paper". So he went back and got the pencil and piece of paper. Now this whole room full of people got on their knees and were praying. But by the time he got done, he looked up, they were all gone. They all went to bed and left him, left him in there talking to Jesus. And so he gave him this sermon. He said, "You're leaving out part of it". So he went back over it and he said, "Write down four points. 1, 2, 3, 4. Number one, she said it. Number two. She did it. Well, that's where James 2 comes in. Number three, she received it".
Do you notice that? She knew it before she felt it. Faith must not, absolutely must not require physical evidence or it's not faith. And Rufus Moseley said this. He said, "There is a mental ascent that sounds like and looks like faith. It's mentally ascending to the place where you say yes, the Word is true. And yes, I believe it. But you're believing it with your mind and not your heart". Because when it goes to getting rough, you begin to say things like, "Well, I thought I got healed, but I don't guess I did". Why? Because I still feel bad.
I was in a prayer line one time and I walked up here to lay hands on this man, but the Lord backed me off. And I heard these words. "Ask him if he's healed". I said, "Are you healed"? He said, "No". Like I was nuts. Why do you think I'm in the prayer line? But that's what the Lord said, "Ask him if he's healed". I said, "Are you healed"? "No, I got this," and he explained to me in detail what he had right here. And the Lord said, "Tell him he never will be". I said, "Well, you never will be". I stood there a second. I said, "Now, are you healed"? "No, I got this". And he explained it all to me again, all of his evidence is right here.
Well, I could almost tell where it was going, but I didn't know what the breaking point was going to be. And then the Lord said, "Ask him again". I said, "Are you healed"? He said, "Now I told you". I said, "Yeah, I know you got something right here". I said, "The Bible said by his stripes, you were healed". "I know it, but I've got this". And then the Lord gave me the answer. And I said, "If I agree with you, you will keep what you have right here. But if you will agree with me and I Peter 2:24, then you can get rid of what you have right here". And you can see the light come on. "Yeah. Put your hands on me brother". I put my hands on him and the power of God hit him. And he walked away with no more of whatever this was he had right here.
The big thing here, those four things. She said it. She did it. She received it. And she told it. And the Lord Jesus told Kenneth Hagin that night in that vision, anybody, anywhere can receive from God anything they want or need if they'll just do what she did. She said it. She did it, she acted on it. She received it before she felt it. And then she told it all. She told it all to Jesus. And I so admire Jairus. He spoke his faith. "You come lay my hands on her and she'll live," on my daughter, right in the middle of that whole... no telling how long that took. And in the middle of it all, they came and told him, "Your little daughter's dead". He still didn't say a word.
But notice what Jesus did. By the time they got there, they were tumulting, crying, a Middle Eastern tumult. I mean, it's big time. He put all of them out. And they laughed him to scorn. Jesus paid no attention. And neither did Jairus and neither did his wife. They never said another word. Now what did Jesus do? He said, "Daughter, I say unto you". And he touched her hand, took her by the hand. He used his words. "I say unto you". What was that? The release of his faith. Check it out, go look and see how many times he said things like that. He said, "I say unto you. I say unto you. Do you believe I can do this"? Yea, Lord. "Be it done under you as you have believed".
