Kenneth Copeland - Your Source of Life and Health
We will be talking today about the anointing exchange. Now, how do we explain the anointing? Well, you can talk about it in different ways. We know that it's the power of God. We know that. No question about it and we'll see that, but think about it like this, the anointing of God, the unseen power of God that removes burdens, destroys yokes of poverty and so forth. Think about it like this, it is the blessing of Abraham, which is the blessing of Jesus in manifestations. It is God's power. Amen. And we'll read from the ministry of Jesus, but now the only time, and let's open there in the fourth chapter of the book of Luke, the only time that Jesus said anything concerning the anointing being on him was right here. And he took this from the 61st chapter of the book of Isaiah. Would you turn there with me please?
Now, you realize that in the fourth chapter of Luke verse one, Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan and was led by the spirit into the wilderness. What happened in the Jordan? John baptized him and John had a vision and he saw the spirit of God land on him like a dove would land. And that is an excellent analogy because the dove is the bird of peace. And he's the Prince of Peace. Amen. Precious. And I'll say this to you, Jesus always had the spirit of God in him. He was born of the spirit. Amen. But he did no miracle until it was 30 years old. And you can study that out the Levitical priesthood did not go into the priesthood actively until they were 30. And Joseph, you remember and his dreams he had interpreted dreams. And then the man forgot him for two years. He was only 28 years old. He had to be 30 to become the most powerful man in Egypt. He had to be a grown man. Amen. So praise God.
Now he went into the wilderness 40 days and we know what happened there. His combat was the written Word. It is written. It is written. It is also written. Now, I'm absolutely convinced because of the way this is worded he came right out of that. He did not eat for six weeks then the scripture said, and then he hungered. That means starvation had set in. And now I've never fasted that long. I've been on an extended fast. Hunger goes away in days. I mean, just in a few days. And then you get to the place you don't want to eat. And you come to that place where you just don't want to eat. It just doesn't anything look good to you and you just don't want to eat anything.
Now I've never been on this kind of fast but then when that hunger returns, it is with a vengeance because starvation has begun. Jesus was in that condition when the rat, the devil said, "Why don't you turn these stones into bread"? That's about as low as you can get. But that's what he does. And Jesus just came at him with a word, just came at him with a word, just hammered him with the Word of God. And the angels ministered to him, glory to God. Do you suppose there might have been some manna handy? I don't know. Amen. But now he returned in the power of the spirit into Galilee that went out of fame throughout the region there about, and he taught in their synagogues. And as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up for to read. I believe that this revelation came to him while he was in the wilderness. The layout.
Did you notice he always found himself in the book of Isaiah. Isn't that amazing? Now there was delivered unto him, the book of the prophet Isaiah and when he had opened the book, he found the place. He went, what we know as the 61st chapter, he didn't just start anywhere. But he went to this place. The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach. Now take the woman with the issue of blood for instance, she said and said, and said, and said, if I ever touched the hem of his garment, if I'm going to touch but his clothes, it's recorded two different ways but it's the same thing. The hem of his garment, Jesus being a rabbi dressed as a rabbi. And the garment she's talking about is the hem of his prayer shawl. She was a Jew. She was a Jewish. She knew that that's where the anointing was supposed to be. In his tent.
Now that brings up the Apostle Paul being a tent maker. I don't believe he was building tents to live in. The prayer shawl is called the tent. You can get in it and pray. But either way, I just like to go for the best. I can see him making prayer shawls. Wouldn't you like to have one of those? Well, we will one of these days. After this, Jesus would say, what'd he say to the woman with the issue of blood? "Your faith made you whole". He did not say my anointing made you whole. We know good and well, it was the anointing, but he didn't call that attention to himself. He said, "Your faith made you whole". So the contact of her hand touching that garment, she released her faith. Jesus said, who touched me? Did you notice she stopped him right in the street. Jairus put him in the street, said you come to my house. My little daughter lies at the point of death. You come. You lay your hands on her and she'll live. That's the last thing he said. So he just headed... This was in Capernaum now.
So Jesus had come across the lake from ministering to the madman of Gadara. We'll talk about him later. Came right across the Galilee. He came home and of course the whole crew was out there waiting on him when he got home. Jairus was there so Jesus just headed to Jairus's house and the woman stopped him. So it wasn't the spirit of God saying you go to Jairus's house. No, it was Jairus's faith that says you come to my house. It wasn't the Holy Spirit that said, there's a woman going to touch the hem of your garment so slow down. No, her faith stopped him. It was faith that put him on the move and it was faith that stopped him out in the street. Amen.
Now that's important. So the spirit of the Lord is upon me, the spirit of the Lord is upon me. The spirit of the Lord is upon me. When did he come upon him? When he was baptized in water by John. The spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor. He has sent me to heal the broken hearted. You could say he has sent me to preach deliverance to the captives. He has sent me to preach recovering of sight to the blind and to set at liberty them that are bruised and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord. That is the great jubilee. And it was the year of supernatural debt cancellation. Hallelujah. That's one of his anointing. Glory to God.
That's the reason your eyes are healed Bill Krause. That's the reason your ears are healed. That's the reason your body's healed because he's anointed to preach it. And as his representative, I'm anointed to preach it. And I'm anointed to tell you, glory to God, there's no confusion in this house. Hallelujah. The truth is not scrambled in here today. Glory to God. So consider him not the spirit of confusion, consider him who is he? The author and the finisher of our faith. Bless God. Hallelujah. Glory to God.
And he closed the book. He closed the book and he gave it again to the minister, gave that scroll again to the minister and sat down. And the eyes... Oh you just feel it because they know who he is. What is he about to do? We've known him all his life. I don't think he started preaching all that quick. I think he just sat there and looked at him, knowing everything on their mind. There's old lady Dudard sitting over there. She's never smiled at synagogue in her life. There's old Uncle Bud and he's sitting over there smiling. What's this kid going to do? Look at him. Just turned 30 years old. He's just now grown, what is he about to do? The eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fashioned on him. And he began to say unto them, excuse me. This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
Now that's a summation of what he preached. We don't have any idea how long it took him to preach that. It may not have taken any longer than that, I don't know. And all bear him witness and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. They wondered, they didn't believe it, they just wondered at it. What did he preach? The blessing. You know what he preached. All bear him witness and they said, "Is not this Joseph's son"? And he said unto them, you will surely say unto me this proverb, physician heal yourself whatsoever we have heard, done in Capernaum do also here in your country. So he had already ministered in Capernaum but he had to go home and preach it in own hometown. And he said, "Verily I say unto you, no prophet is accepted in his own country".
But I tell you of a truth many widows were in Israel in the days of Eli or Elijah when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, great famine was throughout the land. But unto none of them was Elijah sent, save under Zarephath a city of Sidon unto a woman that was a widow. Many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha, the prophet, none of them was cleansed except Naaman, the Syrian. All they in the synagogue when they heard these things were filled with wrath. Well, they got mad at the whole thing. The big thing they got mad at is this day it's fulfilled. This day. And the only people that got healed of leprosy was a Syrian. That made them mad. They hate Syrians. The whole thing it made them furious.
There are people that say, "Well, you know, Jesus just healed him all". No he didn't. He says it says he healed all manner of sickness and disease. Because we know of the same incident in the six chapter of Mark verse four, Jesus said unto them, "A prophet is not without honor, but in his own country and among his own kin and his own house". He could there do no mighty work say that he laid his hands on a few sick folk and healed them. He marveled because of their unbelief. He went about teaching.
So now the anointing exchange, this anointing came on Jesus, and it was the power of God flowing to remove burdens. You can find that in the book of Isaiah in the 11th chapter, 10th and 11th chapter talking about the root and stem of Jesse. Amen. Of quick understanding. Amen. And on that day, his burdens will be removed from off their neck and so forth and so on. And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing or because of the anointing oil because... And one translation says that their yoke will be destroyed because of the prosperity. Whoo, I like that. Jesus is your source. He's your source of life. He's your source of your finances. He's the source of your miracles. He is your source. He's the source of your good health. He's the source of your healing. He's the source of your miracles and he is a good God.
