Genesis chapter 1, I’m reading from the 14th verse. If you are seated and have the ability to stand for the reading of the Word of God, please do so. Genesis chapter 1:14. Then God said, «Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night, and let them be for signs and seasons, signs and seasons, and for days and years. Let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth.» And it was so.
Then God made two great lights, the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. He set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth and to rule over the day and over the night and to divide the light from the darkness. There it is again. All of creation up to this point was about separation and division: light from dark, light from dark, light from dark. And today God is separating you from some folk and from some stuff to separate the light from the dark, the light from the dark, the light from the dark. That’s why some people had to leave your life; because they were bringing darkness, and God said you can’t have that darkness when I’ve called you to be a light in the dark, a light in the dark. The relationship didn’t last, and God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
The title for this message is «Let There Be Light Up the Dark.» Somebody give God the greatest praise you can! Father, by the power of your Spirit, speak with beauty, power, and majesty. Make it abundantly clear that it was you that gave me this word to speak to your people at this moment. Get all the glory! Get all the glory as we light up the dark. In Jesus' name, amen, amen, and amen. Thank you, Holy Spirit. Thank you for your patience and your commitment today. This service has been a singular expression. Our services will not be this lengthy of a time all the time, but today was a special and significant service, and we are determined to honor God. I wanted to seal it with a word from God. If you have the stamina to sit up and lean in, I believe I’ve got the vigor and the vitality to preach the word as God has given it to me so that you can receive what I believe will be a culminating word to the seeds that you have sown. Is that all right?
Last night, there was something that occurs very rarely: a planetary alignment. How many people were aware of that? Hands down. How many people were not aware? Hands up. Where y’all been? Last night, every planet in our solar system lined up in universal symmetry as if they were presenting themselves for inspection. Some of us are saying, «Well, what’s the significance of a planetary alignment?» You’re talking about planets that are billions of years apart on different orbits, angles, and trajectories, all orbiting around a common sun, for us, it is 93 million miles away, and for other planets, it’s further away, and for a couple of planets, it’s closer. But last night in the southern sky, if you were aware and knew where to look, which is always the problem, because it’s not that God’s not doing it; you just don’t know where to look. I’m looking for a move of God; it’s right in front of your face if you know where to look!
My daughter and I seem to have a hunger and fascination with the galaxy. I desire to one day be a credentialed theoretical physicist; I’m fascinated by all things planetary and galactic. I’m deeply moved by the reality that there are exoplanets that are billions of lightyears away. There was a star whose light hit the Earth; it was 55 million lightyears away. For those who don’t know, you should go ahead and look up how fast light travels. The speed of light-nothing travels faster than the speed of light. It’s not 55 million years away; it’s 55 million lightyears away, which means light travels at about 186,000 miles per second. You’ve got to travel that fast for 55 million years to get to where the star is, that’s currently shining on the Earth; but if you got there, the star is not there because it burned out. But the light that is emanating from it has been traveling for 55 million years just to light up our sky.
So, a star that’s no longer in existence, you can still see its light on our planet; and that’s how God wants your life to be, that even if you’re not here, He wants your life to leave a legacy of light even after you leave this planet. I’m trying to help somebody in here. I’m moving quicker through my narrative than I want to because I understand the appetites for people when it comes to timing and services. But I also feel the unction of the Holy Ghost saying, «Preach it boy like I gave it to you,» and if they’ve got to go, then let them go. But for those of us who need a word, you need to hear what I’ve got to say. By the time I get to the end of this message, you’re going to need some tissue, because I am certain most of you don’t know who you are-how staggeringly awesome you are-how phenomenally, fearfully, and wonderfully made you are! Are you sitting in that seat with the nerve to be depressed when I tell you how God made you and what God made you from and what He made you for? You’re going to walk out of here with your shoulders back, throwing your hair-whether it’s yours or added on with a purchase -doesn’t matter to me-but you’re going to walk out of here knowing that the devil is a liar and God is exalted.
God said, «Let’s make some lights to govern the night. I’m going to need some stars. I’m going to need to create something.» And it says, «for signs and seasons.» Everybody say «signs and seasons.» If you are at all interested in maritime techniques of navigation, if you’ve ever been on a cruise ship, they don’t use your phone’s GPS because oceans don’t care about your directions. Those who are learned have to know the stars in order to navigate to get to their intended destination because the stars provide guidance that are fixed points in the sky-they’re not moving. That’s why in this season, God is releasing you from the obligation of people who move their loyalties when their appetite moves. When you no longer serve their need, you can’t find them; when you’re no longer the flavor of the day, you won’t hear from them. When you stop lending them money, they won’t return your text. God is saying, «I’m moving you from people that are not fixed.» God is putting some fixed folk in position — people that love you and are going to love you whether you’re doing well or struggling. God is getting ready to establish relationships that are not fragile.
I want God to remove anything from my orbit that is not fixed in position. Can I get two amens and a «know that’s right»? That sounds like somebody that’s had some drama with people; say, «I know that’s right!» So let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night. What’s the purpose of light? To divide the day from the night. It’s dark out here, y’all! I said it’s dark out here in this world. My wife got into a bit of an emotional quandary because of some things that she had been seeing on the news and decisions that were being made by our government officials and all the things that are happening: the West Coast is on fire, central Texas all the way to the East Coast! New Orleans has 6 inches of snow; Lafayette, Louisiana-they’re skiing in Louisiana! Jesus is coming back! Did you hear what I said? And y’all still trying to figure out what’s going on on «Love and Hip Hop»? Over half of y’all didn’t know that there was a planetary alignment last night and what that means for the season we’re in! God is saying everything I made needs to line up for inspection! Tell somebody, «Get in line!» Listen to me, anyone that’s not going to get in line, God’s going to get them out of line. You need to listen; you get in line. You can’t worry about what other people are doing. You’ve got to get in line. Put this in the chat feed, «Get in line!» Tell somebody on your row- tell them next to you-give them a little elbow-you better get in line! You better get in line!
When I first came to this church as the pastor, I brought a whole lot of people, provided a whole lot of opportunities, and gave people jobs that they would not have had in other places. I thought that that level of vision and loyalty would be rewarded. No matter what I go through, ups and downs, y’all were going to rock with your boy. Let me tell you something. All hell broke loose; couldn’t find them. Gone! Just out of here. What’s your name again? Don’t even remember what their cologne smelled like. And I was so sad! And God said, «I was trying to tell you the whole time. You had your trust in people and all you needed was me!»
I need a 7-second praise break all in here! Pastor M, I’m getting ready to tear this place up! Sitting up believing in people, worrying about people, and people ain’t thinking about you. The moment you no longer serve their purpose, they will drop you like they never knew you. That’s why you’ve got to have your anchor beyond the veil. It says in Hebrews, «My anchor is beyond the veil; my anchor is Christ Jesus.» Is there anybody else who says, «I’m not fooling with folk no more; I’m going to go and anchor my faith in heaven?» The reality is people going to people. Oh yes, they are, honey; they going to people all day, every day, and twice on the weekends. But I’m built different and our church is built different because the people that rock at Love Story, we fight for the people we love-whether they’re good or bad! I don’t care what you say about my people; better keep that over there! I don’t fool with that; you’re not going to talk about somebody that I love.
I don’t care! Did you hear? No, I ain’t heard nothing. Matter of fact, hang up my phone! Stop playing, because I promise you if they’ll bring it to you, they’ll bring something about you to somebody else. Somebody shout: «Light up the dark! Light up the dark!» God said, «I need some lights; I need some division.» I need somebody that’s not ashamed to be a light. The problem is we’ve got a lot of people that’s flickering because you’re not sure what you want to be because to really be a light means it’s going to cost you something. See, when you are a disciple, the disciples didn’t live peaceful lives. They didn’t go and, you know, and die peacefully. You’re talking about men that were crucified upside down. One was flayed-that means they took his skin off while he was alive. John the Revelator was boiled in oil and sent to the isle of Patmos. You need to understand that to be a disciple of Jesus Christ meant your life was on the line. That means I’m going to be a light no matter if it costs me my life or not. A lot of folk are fair-weather Christians; they only want to be a Christian around other Christians. But light doesn’t need light; dark needs light.
We need light in the streets; we need light in the halls of academia; we need light in the banking institutions; we need light on these college campuses; we need light in these high schools; we need light in middle schools; Jesus, we need light in elementary! From what I hear, they’re doing stuff in the bathrooms in the elementary schools that I didn’t even know about till I got to college! The devil is a lie! You better not wait till your kids are 15 or 16 to tell them about Jesus! You better slap oil on their forehead when they’re 3 years old. You better prophesy over them when they’re in the first grade, because there are wicked teachers and godless people that are trying to steal the hearts and affections of our kids. You better let your kids know, «My mama said, 'Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven! '» Yes, sir!
I need everybody in here to open your mouth and give God a praise right now! Light up the dark! Yes, sir! The Bible says that God said, «I want some lights.» Why? «For signs and seasons.» Oh Lord! The problem with some of you is you didn’t realize why God called you, why you’re so different from other people in your family, and why what got other people in your family has not gotten you. Because He chose you to be a light in the dark! Oh my God! It’s easy to fool strangers, but your family knows you! And when you can be a light to them, now you’re shining, baby! You’re shining! When they see the change in your appetites, the change in your verbiage, the change in your demeanor, your disposition, your posture-when you come in and where you used to hit them with the red cup with a little something-something in there, now you’re like, «I’m cool on that because I don’t need that to feel good. I’ve got another level of high that I got! I got my own supply; it’s called the Holy Ghost!»
«Hey, ye are not drunk as ye suppose!» Somebody shout, «Light up the dark!» Somebody say, «Let it be for signs and seasons!» It signs and seasons; your life is a sign! Your life is a sign! You need to write this down; write it down. Plan over there; write it down: signs. Why? For this season! This season in the earth is going to require people that are unashamed of the name of Jesus. Don’t just shout in here; you need to be singing them songs at the grocery store so somebody can ask you, «What song is that?» and you tell them why you’re singing that song, «Because God’s been good to me!» You’ll tell people about a restaurant before you tell them about your Jesus! Help me, Lord! We need light in dark places!
So my wife was sending all of these things, «Look at what’s happening! Look at all these things that are happening on the governmental level!» I was like, «I wasn’t moved! God told me all this! He told me chaos is coming; this is the beginning of the end! But the Bible says see to it that you are not alarmed!» So why you going to act a fool when the devil starts deviling you? You should be like, «That’s expected!» But I read Matthew 24! I know how it ends!
Anybody ever watch a movie more than one time? Some of your favorite movies, you know what’s going to happen! You can repeat the words, but you keep watching it because something about it speaks to you! You know how it ends, and you still watch it! I need you to watch God because you know how it ends!
I think I’m doing good! I think I’m doing good! We know how it is! Signs, seasons, days, and years! Signs, seasons, days, and years! Signs, seasons, days, and years! Sing it! Signs, seasons! Where? For signs, seasons, days! So you’ve got to know which one you’re in! You’re a sign! Is it for a season? Is it for a day? Is it for years? You are a sign, but for what season? And when should your light be shining? What season are you in? Because some of y’all have become insecure and maybe a little bit jealous because you see somebody else shining! Not realizing it’s their season, but you’ve got a day coming and some years coming! Oh, but the Bible says God put the stars in place-wait till I give y’all the scripture; Giovanni is going to trip you out! He’s named every star! Do you understand? There are an infinitesimal number of stars, and each one of them has a name. You don’t give a name to something that doesn’t answer, honey! I’m about to shout and throw this mic and bust somebody right in your forehead! I promise you God tells the stars to shine at His will, then He tells them, «That’s enough! You’re done!» That’s what He says to the celestial bodies. But for the sons and daughters of God who have the eternal essence of the Living God on the inside of them, when you shine, you are emanating His glory. You don’t just reflect God; you refract Him!
What is refraction? That’s what happens when you have a diamond, a real one. When the light hits it, if you hit it just right, it’ll start sparkling on the wall! Sometimes you’ll see different colors! It didn’t reflect the light; it refracts it! That means the light hits it and comes through the prism, and something different comes out. What you need to know is your life hits different depending on who needs something from you. My name is John Gray; Aventor calls me husband, my kids call me dad, staff calls me pastor, mama calls me son. Depending on where I am, what they need is reflected out of me. Because depending on the season, they might need something different. Now Pastor Mike, you are a husband, a father, now you’re a pastor, and baby girls are going to get something different than the two daughters. They’re going to get something different than Pastor Tracy. They get something different than what you give at the job, because some people get all access. But sometimes, baby, the season changes, and your access has to be.
I wish I had a church in here! There are some people, because of the season you’re in, that do not deserve the same level of access that they had in a previous season! God says, «Take the sign! If I don’t have that peace, God says that’s the sign; their season is up! If I don’t have no peace, you can’t stay with me in this season! If I got a check in my spirit, we’re going to have to part ways in this season! If there’s a hesitation in my spirit, I’m going to have to wave at you in this season, because God is not allowing the light that’s in me to be diminished, dimmed, or tainted by somebody that does not have my best Kingdom interest at heart!»
Everybody that believes it ought to give God a praise right now! Elder Brian, in my book bag are a pair of glasses; I need them because my other glasses broke this morning on the way, and I need them quick because I’ve got to write and read these points. I was trying to see if baby Jesus-oh, you know what? I need one of them people like Ki Church. «Read, and it came to pass!» «Read!» No, no, I’m good!
Signs, seasons, days, and years! I’m here to tell you that today, as you said, you stepped into a new season that will be reflected in the days ahead and the years to come! Do you receive it?
All right, let me move this along. God said, «I need there to be lights to give light on the earth.» And then God made two great lights-that’s the sun and the moon- one to govern the day, the other to govern the night. Here’s what’s funny: the sun is a star; it shines. The moon has no illumination of its own. When you see moonlight, what you see is sunlight reflecting off the moon. You have to discern who’s a sun and who’s a moon in your life, because you’re giving sun- level privileges and access to people who are a moon in your life. They’re only reflecting what you carry, and you think they got their own light. That’s why you need to say, «Lord, show me who everybody is!»
I’m preaching good, Pastor Crow! Marty, what if I told you you were a star? One of my favorite songs is by a man named Prince. He said, «Hey, look me over, tell me if you like what you see! Hey, I ain’t got no money, but I’m rich in personality! Hey, check it all out-I will tell you what it’s all about! If you see it through, you will see my point of view, even if you have to scream and shout, 'Baby, I’m a star! '» Oh, baby! But I knew y’all knew that song. «We Are The Stars!» What if I told you you were closer to truth than you ever knew?
No, no, no! I said what if I told you you were closer to the truth than you knew? I’m about to tell y’all something; it’s going to shock you. But I’m here to tell you, you are a star! No, no, no! Watch this! When God put stars in place, it was two more days before He made man. Stay with me, because what I’m about to say is crazy-you’ve never heard it! The Bible says a day is as a thousand years to the Lord! I believe that when God was speaking to Moses about creation, He gave creation to a human mind in a way that a human mind could understand at that time. And so a day could have been a billion years; we don’t know, because nobody was there but God. But He also knew that talking to Moses in his finite capabilities and also talking to a bunch of gumps called the children of Israel who were also dull, He had to speak in a way that they would understand it. So we didn’t get here until the sixth day, but on the fourth day, He made stars.
Now you’ve got to understand how stars are made and what they are made of. Now, stars are made of 99% hydrogen. Are you staying with me? But then there are some trace elements to stars that you need to know аbout: there is carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus, and sulfur, along with iron. Here’s what’s crazy: all of the things that are in stars are in us! No, no! You didn’t hear what I said! I’m about to throw this water on all-I’mma-I’mma tear your hair up! I’mma-I’ll do it!
You remember when you were little and you believed you could do anything until somebody said the wrong thing? I need you to get back to your star mentality! Look at somebody real quick; say, «Baby, I’m a star!» Oh no, no, no! You didn’t say it right! Are these clean? You got me? All right, tell somebody else: «Baby, I’m a star!» I don’t think y’all understand! Let me get back to this: the things that make up stars, at the formation of a star, all of these things are there! When a star dies, those things are released! Watch this! They are released into the universe! And those stars that He created on the fourth day released dust that actually hit Earth! So then when God created you from the dust of the earth, He actually used stardust!
Why would you date somebody beneath you? Baby, you’re a star! Have you lost your mind? Why do you carry yourself with low self-esteem? You are a- I need somebody to get this in your spirit! Everything that’s released from dying stars is what you need to be a human being! So God took the stars and made a living you. So He took stardust, breathed into it, and then said, «Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven!»
I don’t know if you-I don’t know how you’re not shouting yet! Baby, you’re a star! Why do you think it says we were made to sit in heavenly places? Am I in the right church? I know I’m going to hear a lot of preachers preach it after this week. Just make sure you heard it here first, baby! I need you to high-five seven people! Just high-five them and shake their hand! How you just shook the hand of a star? I’m a star! Seven people! Sasha! Seven people right now! I’m a star! I’m a-I’m a star! I need somebody to shout after you say it: «Yo, Brandon! I’m a star! Man of God, I’m a star!» I need somebody to come shake my hand! I’m a star! I’m made of stardust! When you touch me, you’re touching heaven! When you touch me, you’re touching the creative genius of God!
When you reach out to me, you better handle me the right way because I didn’t come from mess! I didn’t come from brokenness! I came from the mind of God! And that which is in me came from heaven! That’s why I’m made to sit in heavenly places! You better respect me; baby, I’m a star!
I need everybody in here to give God the greatest praise that you can! No, no, no! I said give God the greatest praise that you can! So if people don’t treat you like God made you, you need to keep shining and let them fall out of your orbit! You didn’t hear what I said! Listen! I’m not giving you an option to lower me! Baby, I know who I am! I know what I’m made of! The very dust of dying stars, when it is released, those trace elements are the building blocks of life on Earth! I know my mom is shouting in her house right now!
See, because when you’re a star, you talk star talk! I’m sorry, but I’m getting free myself because the devil wants you to think like him! Why do you think the Bible says the devil’s under your feet? Ain’t no low star! I talk star talk! The people I hang with converse with are people that change culture, effectuate change across political spheres, entertainment dynamics, academia, banking, and finance! I talk to people that make moves! I don’t have time to talk gossip with you! I’m a star!
I’m in heavenly places! I walk with kings! I walk with queens! I walk with dignity! I walk with authority! Are there any stars in the church today? If you’re single and he doesn’t treat you like a star, get out of my orbit! I’m the star! You’re a planet! Woman of God, you’re the favor! He needs to revolve around your favor! He that finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor! Baby, you’re the star! He’s the planet! Revolve around this! I’m trying to help somebody in here!
See, because when you know your value, you don’t accept less! Tell somebody, «I’m a sign for a season, for days, for years! I’m shining!» Look at somebody; tell them, «You’re shining, baby! You’re shining! You’re shining!»
I see y’all kissing, Elder Trec! Y’all being grown in the back, like, «You’re shining, baby!» Add a little tongue in there-that’s right! Give him a little tongue in the church house! Ain’t nothing wrong with that! Tell somebody else, «You’re shining! You’re shining!» Until you get that thing in your- Why do you think you have crazy ideas like, «I can do anything,» then all of a sudden you talk yourself out of it?
No, never! You ever drive past a big old huge house and your heart starts beating fast like, «I can have that!» But then that part of you that’s still unrepentant-that part of you that’s unsubmitted-that’s still dusty, like, «No, I don’t have a credit for that!» No! But I’m a star!
My daddy does! Let me tell you what my son said to me; it made me mad, but it made so much sense! He asked me for something that was crazy expensive! I said, «Do you have money?» He said, «No, but you do!» I said, «That is not the point.» That’s a good point, though! How much is it? Because what he did, he spoke to the fact that I don’t have it, but my daddy does! And since I’m your son, I carry your name! I carry your likeness! I came from you! If I ask you, I’m pretty sure you’re going to give it to me! And he’s right! As it is in the natural, so it is in the spirit!
God said, «I wish y’all would understand! If you’re a star, then what am I?» God says, «Come on and ask your Father! You’re already up here! What Jesus did gave you access to everything that heaven has to offer!» God says, «I wish you’d open your mouth!» If you knew who you were, you wouldn’t even have to yell! You’re already up here!
I’m a star! Everybody needs to go and download that song today and just play it real loud! I promise, when I leave this church, I’m going to be right on that street. «Hey, look me over! Tell me if you like what you see!»
Here’s what’s crazy! He wrote it broke! You said, «I ain’t got no money, but I’m rich in personality!» But by the time he died, he was worth 265 million! If he could prophesy and he wasn’t even using scripture, what could you do with the authority of Heaven in your mouth? I need somebody to get up and act a fool!
The service is almost over! When God made you, He made you for signs, seasons, days, and years! What happened today, nephew, is going to follow you for the rest of your life! Your mother and father were right there on that corner, and they sown- that’s for you! That’s for your sister! It’s for a sign! Yeah, for seasons, days, and years! Everyone is standing! I had seven points; I’m not giving y’all not one of them! I’m telling you not one! The Holy Ghost said that’s all I want you to say to them today. Leave here knowing you are a star!
Stars don’t need light; they are! Yo, check this out! This, this-this, listen! Stop playing in my face and listen to what I’m saying! You’ve been around somebody that’s hot! Listen to what I’m saying! I had a couple family members that, you know, struggle with a little bit of narcotics. They be like, «Hey, listen to what I’m-listen!»
The reason why you don’t fit in is 'cause you’re not from here! You were made to sit in heavenly places! Baby, you’re a star! So let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven! Stop allowing people to diminish your value, your vision of yourself, or the declaration of your future! Don’t you ever let your circumstance determine your confession! I am debt-free! My houses are paid off! My children’s children have homes because of what God does in me in 2025!
Does anybody else have the faith to say crazy things? Find some people you can talk star talk with! Talk crazy! Talk elevated levels of things! I love everybody! I don’t have time for depressed people in this season! I will refer you to a good therapist, but I’m not your therapist! I need star talk! We need to be figuring out how to open this next business! We need to figure out how to franchise that business! We need to figure out how much land we can buy and accumulate, so that we can keep expanding the imprint of Love Story Church! We need Love Story LA; they need light in the dark! We need Love Story New York; we need light in the dark! You want me to keep going? 'Cause I will!
Never mind, 'cause some people who are too small are like, «Where you going?» What you mean, «Where I’m going?» It’s where I’ve been! I was that before I got here, so were you! Don’t let small confines for a season cause you to forget you’re a sign anywhere you go! And I need you to know that if you keep shining, wise men will find you!
Who is it? Joseph? Somebody at the door? I know Mary just take care of the baby. Who is it? Um, some wise men? Where y’all from? From the East! Why you here? Well, we-we’ve seen he who was born the king of the Jews! We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him! Now we’re not Jews, but at least we know where a star is! We ain’t even believers, but we know a king was born!
Y’all missed that! 'Cause you think everybody that’s about to bless you is saved. No, they’re not! That’s what’s going to let you know it’s God! It’s some people that can’t stand God, but they’re going to have to write a check to you! There are some people that don’t know nothing about your Jesus and won’t never step in this door, but I promise you this: they’re going to have to bless you 'cause they’ve seen your star, and they’ve got to worship God!
Keep shining! Tell somebody, «Keep shining! Keep shining! Stay rare! Stay bright! Stay on fire! 'Cause you know if you stay in your proper position, only the things assigned to you will get to you! Don’t lower your orbit for anybody, for any reason! You were made to sit in heavenly places!
Jesus was a little boy less than two years old, had a star sitting over his house! You want to talk about a nightlight? I don’t know who this is for, but God has had a nightlight over your life! That’s why you didn’t die! That’s why the abuse didn’t kill you! That’s why the crazy mama and the drug-addicted dad and the people that weren’t there didn’t destroy you! Why do you think you’re still alive and other people got diseases from the stuff that you’re still struggling with? Do you know there’s been a light over you? You belong to God!
Gentlemen, turn the lights off in this room! Turn them off! 3, 2, 1-All of them, even me! They don’t need to see me! It’s dark out there! We need somebody that’ll light up the dark! I said we need somebody that’s going to light up the dark! Who’s going to light up the dark?
I need somebody to light up the dark! Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven! Jesus is the bright and morning star! Today, I need you to know that even a little light will give people direction on where to go! You don’t have to preach a sermon; just tell them Jesus is real! That could be enough to get somebody saved! Light up the dark!
Somebody else lift your light up! Wave it, wave it like somebody’s dying and needs to see which way to go! If I’m drifting and about to drown, I need to know that there’s a light on shore so I can swim to safety! Light up the dark!
I don’t know what you’ve been going through, and I don’t know what people have told you about you, but you are a light in dark places! Light up the dark! And you’ll say, „My light is little.“ Good! They’ve got a song for that: „This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine! This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine! This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine!“

When you had your picture with your homegirl, your homegirl, you had your shoulder out; you had your tattoos out. You know it was some of the saints, she got T-she got a lot of them! It’s art; it’s a blessing! God’s art!
Listen! Let your light so shine! We got some nose rings; we’ve got some tatted people! We’ve got some dreadlock people! We’ve got some folk with some body art! Guess what? Short hair, long hair, big, little, somewhere in between like me, skinny legs, upside-down pyramid-it’s all good!
