John Bradshaw - No Perfect Father
You've never met the perfect father. Imperfect dads are all through the Bible, King Saul, faithless, self-absorbed, unhinged, he tried to kill his own son, impetuous, disobedient, and he died lost.
King David, often faithless, self-absorbed, disobedient, seventy thousand people died when he numbered Israel, an adulterer, and a murderer who handled his children badly, but he died saved in spite of his faults.
David, unlike Saul, turned to God again and again in repentance as in second Samuel 24:10, "I have sinned greatly in what I have done; but now, I pray, O Lord, take away the iniquity of your servant, for I have done very foolishly". His mistakes were real, but David was sorry for his sin.
If you're a dad and you make mistakes, follow David's example, repent sincerely. However you've been as a father on earth, you can be sure to be with your heavenly Father forever. I'm John Bradshaw for It Is Written.
