John Bradshaw - God Was Merciful
King David's many failings are recorded in the Bible with painful accuracy. He was dishonorable, an adulterer, a schemer, a murderer, a terrible father, a serial marrier, he numbered Israel, and went to the Philistines for help when he was fleeing Saul.
David, the failure, but his failings are recorded less to show his shortcomings and much more to reveal God's mercy. David blew it and God was merciful. David's great Psalm of repentance opens with these words, "Have mercy upon me, O God". In the same verse David mentions the multitude of God's tender mercies.
There's a lot of David in every one of us, we fail at times, too many times, sometimes spectacularly. What God wants you to know is that He is merciful. As he was to David, who will be in heaven, God will be merciful to you. I'm John Bradshaw for It Is Written.
