John Bradshaw - Say NO More Often
One of the best things a parent can say to a child is, "I love you," another is, "God loves you," or "let's pray about that together, remember to say please and thank you, turn off the lights when you're not using them," one more, "no".
More parents should say that more often, "no" or "I'm sorry but no". Children weren't born to get everything they want and being children, they're going to want things that are not good for them, that's where a grown-up steps up to the plate and says "no". Solomon wrote, "Chasten your son while there is hope, and do not set your heart on his destruction".
Proverbs 19:18. Children don't typically enjoy discipline but that's no reason not to discipline or disciple them. Someone once said, "You can't always get what you want," teaching that to a child is absolutely invaluable. I'm John Bradshaw for It Is Written.
