John Bradshaw - Spiritual Muscle Memory
Muscle memory causes certain things to kind of come naturally to you. It works in repetitive tasks like typing, for example. Do those things over and over again, they sort of happen on their own, without you having to really think too hard about it.
But then there's spiritual muscle memory, where something happens and you immediately default to negative behavior out of habit. For example, you might get critical when you simply hear someone's name, and that's because you've been doing it for so long, it comes naturally. What you need is Jesus.
The Bible says in second Corinthians 5:17 that, "If any man be in Christ he", or she, "Is a new creature: old things are passed away: behold, all things are become new".
It may take a while to work out attitudes and actions that are deeply ingrained. So, you look to Jesus, and you keep looking, and you know that he can change your heart. I'm John Bradshaw, for It Is Written.
