John Bradshaw - White Clothing
What you offer people who are failing spiritually? Jesus spoke to the lukewarm believers in Laodicea, and told them that unless they changed he'd have to spew them out of his mouth. But he didn't leave them without encouragement. He said, "I counsel you to buy from me... White garments, that you may be clothed" - Revelation 3:18.
Laodicea produced soft black wool, which was used to manufacture clothing. Jesus says to a people in a place known for its black wool: what you need is white clothing. And of course, that white clothing is the righteousness of Jesus.
What we must know is that our own righteousness is of no value. Isaiah described it as filthy rags. But you can freely receive the perfect righteousness of Jesus. God offers that to you right now. Jesus says to a sinful people, "I'll give you my righteousness". You can receive that from Jesus freely. I'm John Bradshaw, for It Is Written.
