John Bradshaw - Wise Advice
The split in Israel that divided Israel and Judah happened when Rehoboam became king right after Solomon's death. The people asked King Rehoboam to lighten their burdens. Solomon had worked them severely and taxed them unreasonably, but they told Rehoboam they would be loyal if he'd lighten up on them; his older counselors told him to ease up, but the younger ones told him to double down.
1 Kings 12:11, "My father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions". The future of Israel would have been very different if only the king had followed good advice; God sometimes guides you by the advice of others and always through the advice of the Bible.
