John Bradshaw - Train Wreck
How do you go from being the king of God's people, to being a train wreck. Solomon was called by God to the throne of Israel, and right from the start he was a model King. When given a chance to ask for anything he wished, Solomon asked for an understanding heart, so he could lead God's people appropriately. But after a time, things started to slip.
You'll notice if you read about him and the Kings and the Chronicles, there was no point when Solomon said, "I'm done with God". His descendant to ruin (and it was ruined) was gradual. And that's how it goes.
1 Kings 11:5, "Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites". It's stunning how far you can fall, once you start to let yourself go.
