John Bradshaw - Back to Basics
After the Green Bay Packers lost the NFL championship game against Philadelphia in 1960, head coach Vince Lombardi started training camp in the summer of 1961, by Going Back to Basics. Standing before the players with a football in his hand, Lombardi said, "Gentlemen, this is a football", which they knew of course. But it signaled that if they were going to be successful, they had to really nail the fundamentals: how to block, how to tackle. Well, they did, and they won the championship six months later beating the New York Giants, 37 points to zero.
It's important that in our spiritual life we don't forget the basics: God is love, the Bible is the word of God, prayer, faith, reading God's word.
Paul wrote that, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God". If you suffer a spiritual defeat, make sure that you are not ignoring the basics. I'm John Bradshaw, for It Is Written.
