John Bradshaw - Blood in the Water
It's known as the blood in the water game. A water polo match at the Melbourne Olympics in 1956 between Hungary and the Soviet Union. Only weeks earlier, there'd been an uprising in Hungary against the soviet-controlled communist government. The game was especially spiteful, and with a minute to go Hungary leading 4-0, a soviet player struck a Hungarian player, causing a big gash in the man's head. Blood flowed, and police had to intervene to prevent a riot.
Hungary eventually won the gold medal, but that game went down in history because political tensions spilled over into the pool. Hate is easy when you feel you've been wronged, but God calls Christians higher. In John 13:35 Jesus said, "By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another". God calls you to take the high road, even under provocation. I'm John Bradshaw for It Is Written.
