John Bevere - Unforgettable Encounter with God (Frozen in Awe)

John Bevere - Unforgettable Encounter with God (Frozen in Awe)
TOPICS: The Awe of Go, Encounter with God

And the people were screaming, and I’m frozen. I’ve literally got goosebumps on my goosebumps. I am like John. By God, He is in this place because Daddy didn’t come in; the King of Kings came in. All right, you just read chapter 5, and I want to talk more about that unforgettable evening. You know, the Bible says in Psalm 89:7, «God is to be greatly feared,» not just feared, «greatly feared in the assembly of the saints and to be held in reverence by all those around Him.»

That evening in Brazil, I was astonished. It was the Friday night National Conference. These are believers; the arena was packed, and I thought for sure I was going to walk into an amazing manifestation of God’s presence, but it was so dry; the presence of God was nowhere. However, when the people repented of their lack of holy fear, the presence of God came in in such a way that absolutely terrified me— but in a good way. I’ll never forget the wind blowing in that arena. Now, we didn’t feel it, but you could hear it. These people were screaming—thousands of Brazilians screaming—and yet the wind was louder. It sounded like a jet taking off at an airport; it sounded like wind rushing through the forest just before a storm. I mean, I remember hearing this, and the people were screaming, and I’m frozen.

I’ve literally got goosebumps on my goosebumps. I am like John B. God is in this place because Daddy didn’t come in; the King of Kings came in. The authority was just unspeakable. I’ve only had this happen in my life up to this point about five times, but this one definitely changed me forever. I remember when that wind was blowing through; people were weeping and crying. They took me back to the hotel that night. All I could do was sit on my balcony until 1:30 and worship God. I kept thinking I just encountered God in a way I have never encountered Him before. I just experienced a move of His Spirit like I had never witnessed before. These people’s lives will never be the same.

When we walked into that service the next morning, Saturday morning, people got healed, people got delivered, people got saved without any effort. The presence of God was so strong just because they came in with reverence. You know, when I personally go to prayer, I now want to connect with God. What do I mean by connect? I want to sense His manifest presence. So I often walk into my prayer closet now, and I won’t say anything. I’ll just think about how awesome our Father is, the fact that He created everything seen and unseen, that He is from everlasting to everlasting, that He is God Almighty, and yet He’s chosen to be my dad.

I’m like, all of a sudden, the awe of God hits me, and the presence of God is there. Now I feel like I can engage with Him so much easier than when it used to be where I would go in and pray and sing and struggle, and then finally the presence of God would be there. I want to encourage you; just practice that. When you go into your prayer closet, even if you turn off this video right now, go into your prayer closet and just think about how awesome—listen to the word awesome—how awe-full, how wonderful He is, full of wonder, and watch the presence of God manifest in your life.
