And God says, "I don't want that kind of relationship. I don't want you to want Me because of what I can give you, and I'm not trying to look hip, My little bride running around with Me. I want people to really be impassioned about Me." So God says, "I don't want a gold digger relationship. Get rid of your lover Egypt; get rid of the filth."

Now let's bring it over to the New Testament. Isn't it the same in the New Testament? Oh yeah, you better believe it, because look what Paul says in 2 Corinthians 6: 'As God has said, I will live in them and walk among them.' Now this is talking about God saying, 'I'm going to manifest My presence among you. I will be their God, and they shall be My people. Therefore, because of this, come out from among unbelievers and separate yourselves from them,' says the Lord. 'Don't touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.'

So, His welcoming us into His presence is conditional upon us getting rid of the filth of the world. 'Now I will be your Father, and you will be My sons and daughters,' says the Lord Almighty. Because we have these promises of Him dwelling among us, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that could defile our body and spirit. Another translation says, 'Cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness because we fear God.' So once again, in the New Testament, God says, 'I don't want a gold digger relationship. I want to have an authentic relationship with you. I want you to want Me because of who I am, and I want you because of who you are.'
