Are you getting this? In other words, there's a behavioral change—that's what we pursue. How can Lisa pursue being my wife more effectively today? She can't. That's not written to unbelievers; "chase after with the intent to apprehend" is written to believers. Now, look at the scripture again: "Pursue holiness, without which no man will see the Lord."
Now wait a minute; everybody's going to see God. The Bible says it is like lightning that flashes in the East and shines in the West. Everybody's going to see Him, right? They're going to see Him when He comes; they're going to see Him at the Judgment. What's that talking about? Let me give you an example: I'm 56 years old, and I've been under ten presidents of the United States. I've been under their jurisdiction; their decisions have affected my life, and their leadership has influenced me, but I've never seen one of them. I've never been in their presence. There are other American citizens who see the president every day; they're friends with him, they work with him, they know him personally. There are some Christians who are under the jurisdiction of Jesus; His decisions affect their lives, but they're not in His presence. You think I'm kidding?
I'll let Jesus tell you this one: John 14:21, the last scripture in the PowerPoint. These words are in red: "The person who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who really loves me. I will love him too, and I will show, reveal, and manifest myself to him. I will let myself be clearly seen by him and make myself real to him." So, you know what we do? We tell people, "Hey, don't worry about holiness; it's okay, it's all taken care of." Yes, it's all taken care of positionally; God has set you apart for Himself. But if you ignore it and you don't chase after it, you miss out on His presence.
