John Bevere - What Keeps Us From Drifting Away

Now do you understand why the Bible says… Look at Hebrews 2:1, we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. When I was in prayer, you know, I’m going to tell you this right now: you guys know I’ve written 19 books. I had a leader in the United States call me. He said, «John, this was 20 months ago. You are about to write the most important book you’ve ever written for the body of Christ.» He said, «This book will impact the body of Christ more than any book you’ve written. It’s God’s, it’s Heaven’s mandate on your life.»
I spent all last year on this book; it came flying out of me. I spent more time writing it, but I’m going to tell you it did come flying out of me. When this book was done, I said, «God, tell me about this book,» and He said, «It’s a calibration message.» Now I had to go figure out what calibration is. Everybody say «calibration.» This word is most frequently used when it comes to machines, and one machine that it’s used frequently on is a gas detector that is put in chemical factories.
Now let me explain this to you: Honeywell is the primary manufacturer of these machines that are gas detectors, which they put in chemical factories. Let me tell you what these machines are very important because, you know why? If you get just a little bit of toxicity in the air, it can damage people for life in chemical plants, or it can kill them. So on Honeywell’s website, they said their gas detectors have to be calibrated every day. I kept reading; I’m interested in this. Why do they have to be calibrated every day? They go on to say on Honeywell’s website that the atmosphere will corrupt the sensors.
Okay, so you know how they calibrate them? They bring them into a clean air room that they know has perfectly clean air, and they zero out the machine so that when they put it out in the factory, they know they’re getting an accurate reading. A machine that is not calibrated correctly will give inaccurate readings. Your heart is your sensor. We have to go to the clean air environment, which is the Word of God, before we go out into the corrupt environment. See, don’t be conformed to this world, that you may prove what is good and perfect—oh hello—because why? We’ll drift. Look at the scripture again: we must listen very carefully, this is New Testament, to the truth we’ve heard, or we may drift from it.
