John Bevere - The Right Way to Bring Correction

John Bevere - The Right Way to Bring Correction
TOPICS: Correction

You can speak the truth, but if you speak it out of a desire to prove that you are right, that’s not love. I had a young man walk up to my resource table, and he said, «I’m called to what you’re called to. I’ve got a prophetic calling on my life and I’m going to bring correction to the body of Christ.» I felt this heaviness, and I looked at him and said, «Do you really want to know how you’re operating in the prophetic?» That guy lit up and exclaimed, «Oh my gosh, I’m going to get something!» I told him that the whole time he might be bringing correction, his heart may be breaking because he loves those people so much. Never speak the truth out of a desire to be right or to prove yourself. The total motive for speaking the word must be, «I want to see the best for you.»

Remember, Paul spoke day and night for three years. He warned day and night for three years with tears—everybody say, «with tears"—because he cared about them so deeply. Now, this next point I’m still working on because I need God’s help. Paul said, «I would choose to be accursed from Christ, lost forever in hell, if I could see my kinsmen saved.» You know that’s exactly what Jesus did. Jesus said, «I’m going to be separated from God in order for the world to be saved.» I see the love of God developed in this man in an amazing way, as he could literally say, «I would choose to be separated from Christ for my fellow kinsmen, the Israelites, to be saved.» That’s the kind of love from which we need to speak.
