John Bevere - Revealed vs Communicated Knowledge
TOPICS: Knowledge

So the first phase of his strategy was to get her focus away from God’s generous provision, so she gives the response. Here’s her response: she says, «Hey, we can eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden, but the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God said you should not eat it or touch it, lest you die.» Now, can I say this? God never said a thing about touching it; it just gives us a little clue that she has communicated knowledge, not revelation knowledge. Now, listen: knowledge or learned knowledge, and there is revealed or revelation knowledge. It’s really important that we understand the difference between the two. If you look over in the Gospels, you’ve got Jesus in a situation where he’s with the disciples, and it’s just the twelve.

They’ve been busy ministering now for quite some time, and Jesus looks at the twelve and says, «Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?» And so all of the twelve start answering rapidly: «Well, some say you’re Elijah, some say you’re one of the prophets, others say you’re Jeremiah.» They just start firing off everything they’ve heard on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. So Jesus just lets them rapid-fire; they’re just repeating what he says. But who do you say that I am? Now, what he has just asked them so they wouldn’t pull from the communicated knowledge when he said, «Who do you say that I am?» So they have just given all their answers of what everybody’s been saying, looking at him, and Peter says, «You’re the Son of the Living God.» And what does Jesus say to Peter? «Blessed are you because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you.»
