John Bevere - Paul's Fear for the Church

John Bevere - Paul's Fear for the Church

Paul makes this statement to the Corinthian Church: he says, «But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted.» Now look at the word «corrupted.» Just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent, I want you to think about this: Paul loves this church. He’s birthed this church; he’s the pastor of this church. He’s been with them for three years, but now he’s gone, and he writes back and says, «I am so concerned: is your pure and undivided devotion to Christ going to be corrupted?» Then he compares it to the way Eve was corrupted or deceived. Now, Eve lived in a perfect environment; nobody ever gossiped about her, nobody ever lied to her, nobody stole from her, and no man took advantage of her. She was not abused verbally by a father or mother. How does the enemy get her to turn on God?
