John Bevere - If Jesus Talked About It, We Should Too

I was in Sweden, getting ready to speak to 6,000 people. I had already written several books, and I was in my hotel room in prayer. I judged the situation to be good, but the Holy Spirit, in prayer, said, «No, son, you are seeing this wrongly; this is not good,» and gave me scripture to back it. I got into an argument with the Lord in that hotel room, and finally, I slammed my foot down and said, «But God, look at all the good that’s come out of this situation!» The Lord then said to me, «Son, it was not the evil side of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil that Eve was attracted to; it was the good side.»

When He said that, I flipped my Bible open to Genesis chapter 3 and read, «When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and desirable to make one wise, she ate.» When I saw the words «good,» «pleasant,» and «desirable,» I realized how my reference point was way off. God spoke to me and said, «Son, Christians are not drawn to drug-infested parties or satanic rock concerts.» Suddenly, I understood how much Jesus talked about deception in the last days, and I was thinking in that room, «How come we ignore this?»

In just one chapter alone, He mentioned what it would be like right before His return, stating «deception, deception, deception» four times. He even points out that, if possible, even the elect will be deceived—that’s Christians. Amen. I looked at Paul talking about deception in the days right before Jesus' return. Peter, Jude, and Paul talk about people falling away from the faith because of deception. Suddenly, I was sitting in that hotel room in Sweden, realizing, «Oh my goodness, it’s not going to be blatant evil that deceives, if possible, the elect; it’s going to be evil masked as good.»
