Bill Johnson - How to Keep Focused in Difficult Seasons
When we're in a season of difficulty, it challenges our faith and staying encouraged. In those seasons, we have to choose to live with self-imposed restrictions. Let me try to illustrate: you may have a very active life—most of us do. We have many things going on all the time. You may be involved in a softball league, a bowling team, or volunteering at the hospital. You may have all these activities in your life, but when a crisis comes, it's wise to recognize the need to restrict your focus. Get rid of all these things; they may be completely legal and healthy in one season but become detrimental in another. Why? Because the focus changes. The focus should be on our emotional health, our capacity to hear from God, and to recognize Him to maintain strength. All these aspects can become compromised in certain surroundings. Does that make sense? What might work beautifully in one season of your life can actually be life-threatening in another, so it’s wise to learn what contributes to your life and what takes away from it.
